【Hong Kong Badminton Open】Chinese Taipei Men’s Singles and Women’s Single No. 1 Chou Tien Chen, Tai Tzu Ying
Asian players has been dominating the badminton world. Most of the top players are Asian. Among them, Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei is the current Women’s Singles World No.1 player and her teammate Chou Tien Chen has just promoted to World No.3 in Men’s Singles last week. Both of them are Chinese Taipei’s highest ranking players in the history and they will take part in ” YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018″.
BWF has just released the latest world ranking last week. Chou Tien Chen rose to top 3 in Men’s Singles with 79,094 points, only behind Kento Momota of Japan and Shi Yuqi of China. The 28-year-old Chou made history for his team. He is the first Chinese Taipei player winning BWF Super Series title. He also entered top 4 in All England Open Badminton Championships and captured a silver medal in Asian Games this year.
The Chinese Taipei women’s team is a team you can never underestimate. Tai Tzu Ying, the 24-year-old player, has been possessing the world No.1 title since December in 2016. Although she has lost the No.1 title in April this year due to BWF’s restructuring of their ranking system. With her excellent skills, she has regained the position in May and no one seemed to able to challenge her. In 2018, Tai has won 5 titles besides the All England Open Badminton Championships, Asian Championships and Asian Games. The 3-time Hong Kong Open Champion (2014, 2016,2017) will be back to defend her title. Hong Kong fans is expecting some exciting matches from her.
