The draws for “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018” were announced yesterday (23rd October). Although Danish player Viktor Axelsen withdrew due to injury, several exciting showdowns in all 5 events are awaiting for us. In Men’s Singles, Lin Dan will take on Japan’s world No. 1 Kento Momota in the first round.

Badminton fans were longing for the draws of Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles to see the clash of badminton titans. The feature match on 14th November will be the Men’s Singles 1st round between 5 time Hong Kong Open Champion Lin Dan and Japanese world No.1 Kento Momota. The two players have only met each other in Japan Open in September this year. Kento has eliminated Lin in 2 straight sets.

A surprise for local fans, the Korean Men’s Doubles pair Lee Yong Dae/Kim Gi Jung got their last minute ticket to Hong Kong Open after players’ withdrawal. In this September, the 30-year-old has returned to the court with his new partner, 28-year-old Kim Gi Jung and won the Spain Masters. Fans are looking forward to their performance. Qualifying rounds of Men’s Doubles will start on Tuesday, 13th November.

For Hong Kong team, Yip Pui Yin will face the world No.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the first round of Women’s Singles (Main draw of Women’s Singles will start playing on 14th November). Chau Hoi Wah/Lee Chun Hei will play against Wang Yil Yu/Huang Dong Ping of China in Mixed Doubles first round on 13th November.
