The Mixed Doubles event of “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018” started this afternoon (13th Nov). Hong Kong’s 3 Mixed Doubles pair have different results. Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet spent only 31 minutes to promote to the next round. Chang Tak Ching/Ng Wing Yung lost their match with one game ahead. Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah went through 3-game match with Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping of China and stopped at the first round of their last tournament played together.
Hong Kong’s No.1 Mixed Doubles pair Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet was the third seed of the tournament. They played against Niclas Nohr/Sara Thygesen of Danmark and finished the match without any hassle in only 31 minutes by 21:9, 21:10.
Tang and Tse said, ‘We haven’t met the Danish pair before. However, we were well prepared and have studied their tactics and strength, that’s why we have an easy win. We enjoyed playing at home. It gave us more motivation.’ The two set their target to top 4 in the tournament and will try their best in each match. They will face their fellow Yonny Chung/Wu Yi Ting or the Indonesian Faizal Hafiz/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
For Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah, today was their last match playing together since their 6-year partnership. Without luck in the official draw, they have to face the world ranking 2nd pair Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping of China in the first round. They lost 16:21 in the first game and came back with 21:15. In the last game, the two took 5 points and led 11:10. However, they lost the match by 15:21 after several mistakes were made.
Lee and Chau were not disappointed, ‘We have tried our best. Our opponent was better than us. We have performed at our normal level and are happy with the result.’ After Hong Kong Open, Chau will play with Mak Hee Chun and Lee will pair up with Ng Tsz Yau. Seed No.6 Chan Peng Soon/Masgoh Liu Ying were eliminated by English couple Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock 19:21, 16:21.
“YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018” will start the first round of Singles and Doubles events tomorrow (14th Nov). Hong Kong’s Men’s and Women’s Singles player Ng Ka Long, Wong Wing Ki and Yip Pui Yin will compete in their first match of the tournament. Chinese legendary player Lin Dan will take on Kento Momota of Japan at 8pm.
