“YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018” is set to unfold today (November 13) at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Chinese Mixed Doubles pair Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong announced their withdrawal due to injury at the manager’s meeting yesterday. Before the intensive tournament starts, Ng Ka Long competed in e-sports games with overseas players during the welcome dinner last night.

The 6-day “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2018” continued to be awarded as an “M” Mark event. In addition to the Danish former No.1 player Viktor Axelsen’s withdrawal, Chinese Mixed Doubles pair Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong has also announced to recede from the tournament due to injury at the manager’s meeting yesterday afternoon. Organizer conducted an official draw for the reserve players and explained the event details.

Hong Kong’s Mixed Doubles players Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet felt sorry for Zheng and Huang’s resignation. They will meet the Danish pair Niclas Nohr/Sara Thygesen in the first round. Hong Kong’s Women’s Singles player Yip Pui Yin will play against World No.1, Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying. Yip was suffering from a cold and could only have congee last night at the welcome dinner. She said, ‘My illness didn’t affect me. However, it will be a tough game. I will try my best. I am looking forward to the game against Tai.’
