“YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019 part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500” has announced the main draw line up of all 5 events, Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles yesterday. Most of the Hong Kong players are expecting hard battles against world top players in their first round.

Hong Kong is sending 17 elite players to compete in the Hong Kong Open. Among them, only 1 Men’s Singles, 1 Women’s Singles, 1 Women’s Doubles and 1 Mixed Doubles have entered straight to the top 32 of the main draw and the rest of the players have to compete in the qualifying rounds. According to the lineup of the main draw announced yesterday, the world No. 9 Hong Kong ace Ng Ka Long will face the Indonesian “Giant Killer” and the bronze medalist of the Jakarta Asian Games Anthony Ginting. Ng dominates in their previous 9 times confrontation by 6 wins and 3 losses, including the 2019 Asian Championships and the All England Open Badminton Championships. Fans are expecting his victory at home.

Hong Kong representative Cheung Ngan Yi has an unfavorable draw result in the Women’s Singles. She will face the Japanese World No.3 defending champion Okuhara Nozomi in the first round. This will be their 8th encounter, fans are expecting Cheung to deliver some surprising results on her home turf.

In Mixed Doubles, world No.10 Tang Chun Man/ Tse Ying Suet will play against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe-huei/Hsu Ya-ching. Tang/Tse owns better record in their previous match-ups against them. The Women’s Doubles pair Ng Wing Yung/Yeung Nga Ting will have a very tough game in the first round, competing against the defending champion and seed No.2 Japanese Fukushima Yuki/ Hirota Sayaka.

Tickets of “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019” will be available for sale from 11th October 2019 at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). Ticket prices are same as last year from $40 to $680. Concession tickets are available for students and senior citizens in some of the sessions. Get your tickets as soon as possible!

Entry tickets to qualifying rounds and round of 32 of Mixed Doubles on 12th November (Tuesday) is free for distribution. Interested parties can send self-address envelope with stamp $2 to HKBA office, four tickets are distributed for each person while tickets are available.
