【#Hong Kong Badminton Open 2019】Men’s and Women’s Doubles World Champions are back for Hong Kong Open
“YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019 part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500” will be held from 12th to 17th November at Hong Kong Coliseum. World top players are expected to participate in this tournament. Besides the star-studded line up in Singles event, the participants of Doubles event are also world class. Indonesian Men’s Doubles player Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan and Japanese Women’s Doubles champion Mayu Matsumoto / Wakana Nagahara will fight for gold in their best form.
Indonesia is the Men’s Doubles badminton power house. 35-year-old Hendra Setiawan and his partner, 32-year-old Mohammad Ahsan are the best among others. The two started playing together in 2012 with numerous victories over the years, including 3 world championship titles (2013, 2015 and 2019) and also have won the Hong Kong Open in 2014 and 2018. Hendra and Mohammad, the current world No.2, are experienced and their minds are in sync. They are no strangers to the local fans and are expected to defend their title with full power in Hong Kong.
On the other hand, the Japanese Women’s Doubles have risen in recent years. Mayu Matsumoto / Wakana Nagahara who were both born after 1995, amazed the world last year, becoming the first Japanese Women’s Doubles world champion in 41 years. The two have just successfully defended the world title in August and currently ranked No.1 are regarded as the favorites in this year’s Hong Kong Open.
Tickets of “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019” will be available for sale from 11th October 2019 at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). Ticket prices are same as last year from $40 to $680. Concession tickets are available for students and senior citizens in some of the sessions. Get your tickets as soon as possible!
Entry tickets to qualifying rounds and round of 32 of Mixed Doubles on 12th November (Tuesday) is free for distribution. Interested parties can send self-address envelope with stamp $2 to HKBA office, four tickets are distributed for each person while tickets are available.
