“YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2019 part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500” will be held from 12th to 17th November at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The tournament this year has again attracted a number of world-class players. Although there is no clash between top players in the Women’s Single first round, fans will relish some of the battles such as 3-time Hong Kong Open winner, Chinese Taipei’s world No.1 Tai Tzu-ying takes on Chinese rising star Han Yue and Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, the 1st runner up of last year’s tournament play against Singaporean Yeo Jia Min.

Tai Tzu-ying, the current world No.1, clinched the Women’s Singles’ title in 2014, 2016 and 2017. She stopped at top 4 and failed her mission of a 3rd consecutive championship due to injury last year. This Chinese Taipei player is coming back to regain her title and her first challenge will be the Chinese young player Han Yue who is only 19 years old and ranks 14th in the world. Han has captured a gold and a silver in Asian Junior Championship and World Junior Championship in 2017. The two has no previous encounter record.

The other Women’s Singles first round highlight match is between Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand and Singaporean Yeo Jia Min. 24-year-old Ratchanok Intanon is the youngest world championship winner with a current world ranking of No.5. Yeo Jia Min, the 20-year-old, despite her world ranking is only No.26, she was the youth world No.1 and a main force of Singapore. The two have played against each other twice, Ratchanok has a 2:0 lead.
