The second round of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championship finished tonight (23 November). All Hong Kong Men’s Singles players have been eliminated. Wei Nan promoted from qualifying round lost to Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. Wong Wing Ki was knocked out by Shi Yu Qi of China.

Supported by home fans, Wei Nan who took a 6 point lead and won the deuce by 23:21 in the first game unexpectedly. However, he was losing his strength after the first game. Lee Chong Wei rebounded and booked the top 8 place by 21: 11, 21: 12.

I wasn’t determinate enough when he was striking back.’ Wong will relax and prepare for the next season since his ranking in World Superseries has been surpassed by Chen Long.

In Women’s Doubles, Poon Lok Yan/Tse Ying Suet lost to seed 8 Jongkolphan Kititharakul/ Rawinda Prajongjai of Thailand 17: 21, 9: 21. Tse will team up with Tang Chun Man in Mixed Doubles event.
