VICTOR Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 will take place at the Hong Kong Coliseum on September 12-17. Tickets will be available at URBTIX from today (Aug 15). Fans can buy tickets for the first round at a price as low as HK$40 to watch the performance of top-class players from all over the world as well as home badminton stars.

The Hong Kong Open returns to the Hung Hom venue after a three-year absence and will continue to be a Super 500 tournament under the World Tour and part of the qualifying campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The star-studded tournament is recognised as one of the ‘M’ Mark events of the year and will for the first time be title sponsored by VICTOR, a professional brand in the sport of badminton. The total winning purse has therefore increased to its highest ever at US$420,000 (HK$3.28 million).

The organisers received an initial entry of 364 players from 33 countries and regions. Of the 276 players accepted list, Japan will be sending the biggest squad of 37 players. The list features the world’s top player, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, world number two Anthony Ginting of Indonesia, women’s world number two Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, Tokyo Olympic mixed doubles bronze medallists Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino of Japan and Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin of Chinese Taipei, the men’s doubles gold medallists at the Tokyo Olympics and many others. The hosts will also send its strongest line-up headed by men’s singles defending champion Lee Cheuk-yiu, Angus Ng Ka-long, mixed doubles pairs Tang Chun-man/Tse Ying-suet and Reginald Lee Chun-hei/Ng Tsz-yau and women’s doubles Yeung Nga-ting/Yeung Pui-lam.
Tickets will be available at URBTIX from August 15 through https://www.urbtix.hk ,  Mobile Ticketing App URBTIX and telephone booking hotline at 31661288. Self-service Ticketing Kiosks booking will start from August 16.

Free tickets will also be offered for the qualifying round and the men’s and women’s doubles first round on September 12. Please send a return envelope with HK$2.2 stamp to Hong Kong Badminton Association office. A maximum of four tickets for each person until stocks last. First round tickets on September 13 and 14 will be from HK$40 to HK$180; HK$60-HK$300 for the quarter-finals (September 15), HK$ 70-HK$420 for semi-finals (September 16); and for the final, the highest ticket price is at HK$680.

There are concessionary tickets for students and senior citizens (over 60) with half price for day matches on September 13 and a 10 per cent discount for night matches.
