Top teams including: China, Malaysia, Japan, Denmark, Indonesia, India arrived in Hong Kong yesterday for YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2015 which is unveiled today (17th November). However, Indian World No. 2 player Saina Nehwal has confirmed her withdrawal in Hong Kong Open after suffering a right ankle injury from China Open.

Saina has just lost to World No. 7, China’s Li Xuerui in the Women’s Single finals of China Open last sunday night. The World No.2 has 11 times head to head records with Li and has won twice.

She said,’ it’s a pity that I couldn’t participate in Hong Kong Open. Sunday night’s final was a tough match; Li is a very competitive player. I made a lot of mistakes and my right ankle was injured during the match. I don’t think I can recover in time for the competition.’

Saina went straight to the physiotherapist for treatment after arrival in Hong Kong with her team from Fuzhou. She will return home today.
