With all the cheering, Ng opened the first game with a 6:0 lead and held on to 18:15 until Lee Chong Wei called for a time out to treat his arm injury. Lee made a comeback and won the match by 21:19, 21:14 beating Ng again after the China Open.
Lee Chong Wei said, ‘I think Ng Ka Long played very well. He is playing at home and with great spirit. He played better than China Open. He is a future star. Hong Kong must take care of him very well. There will be up and coming in his career.’ On course for his third Superseries title and fourth Hong Kong Open title, Lee said, ‘this is my last match in this year, I wish to play well.’
After return to the competition in May, Lee thought he is not back on track yet. ’It’s only my 80 percent.’ He said. For the Rio Games, he said, ‘I will concentrate on gaining qualification score for ticket. Everyone can be my biggest opponent. There are many young players could be the champion. It’s not just me or Lin Dan.’
Ng Ka Long commented on his performance, ‘There was only one court in the coliseum today. I was a little bit nerves. After the time out called by Lee in the first game when I was leading, the whole game changed. I was distracted. However, I am still satisfied with my performance in the whole tournament, especially my victory over Chou Tien Chen. I was too excited and didn’t sleep well.’ Being under the spotlight of media in this few days, Ng was not overwhelmed. He said, ‘My family bought me newspapers but I didn’t pay attention on it. I want to keep my mind in peace. I would like to thank all the Hong Kong Fans’ support. I am glad that people start to know my name. I think I have grown up but still a lot to improve.
