Lee Yong Dae, Yoo Yeon Seong Advanced to Men's Doubles Final by Winning a Long Deuce Play
World No.1 Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong of Korea secured their place in Men’s Doubles Final of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2015 by knocking out Chai Biao and Hong Wei of China with a 30:28 long deuce play in the third game.
Thousands of fans have come to the Hong Kong Coliseum to support their favorite players to fight in the semi-finals of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships from 1pm this afternoon. Among all the games, the Men’s Doubles between Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong and Chai Biao/Hong Wei has caught the biggest attention.
Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong lost their first game to the Chinese team in 22:24 and came back in the second one with 21:11. However, they have missed the match point twice in the last games after fighting back from a 12:18 disadvantage. It was a long deuce play; the Korean finally nailed it with 30:28.
In Women’s Singles semi-final, Seed No.1, Carolina Marin eliminated Wang Yihan, the 2013 Hong Kong Open Champion, 21:18,21:16. Caroline has never won the title in Hong Kong Open. She said,’ I was very concentrating on my training and every competition. My mentality and tactic has changed. I am looking forward to the final.
Failing her attempt to regain the title, Wang Yihan felt disappointed. The seed No.8 has lost quite a few pounds recently and admitted the weight losing did affect her performance. She said, ‘I lost 10kg since March this year. I don’t know the reason but it really affected my strength on the court. I have regained some weight. Now I am 64kg. I used to be 68kg.’
In Men’s Singles, Tian Houwei overcame Indonesia’s Ginting Anthony in a 3 game battle, 18:21, 21:11, 21:6.
