Lin Dan Won a Thrilling Match and Might Face Ng Ka Long in the Next Round
YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships continues today (22 November). The Chinese star player Lin Dan returned to Hong Kong after his absence last year. He unexpectedly struggled in the first game against Thai player Suppanyu Avihingsanon but managed to comeback and won the thrilling match by 2:1. Lin might play against Hong Kong’s ‘Lin Dan Killer’ Ng Ka Long in the next round.
The first round of all events started this morning at 9am. Among all the matches, the highlight of the day is Lin Dan played against Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand in Men’s Singles’ first round after his absence last year. The two had a very close battle and came to a deuce 3 times in the first game until Suppanyu won it by 24:22. Lin did not fall apart. Lin expects the Hong Kong player will have a more stable performance after the Olympics and he is in a good shape. Ng also has a win over Lin’s contemporary Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) in China Open. Lin said, ‘Lee also lost quite a few games this year!’
Hong Kong Women’s Doubles pair NG Tsz Yau/ Yeung Nga Ting has a lead 8:6 in the first game against Denmark’s seed 3 pair Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen. However, the height differential decided the game. The Hong Kong’s World Junior Championships Top 8 duo lost by 21:13, 21: 16.

World No.1 Viktor Axelson has withdrawn due to injury. His opponent Kazumasa Sakai of Japan walked over to second round. Men’s Singles Seed 7 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei knocked out by Brice Leverdez of France in an one hour five minutes match by 21:11, 20:22, 17:21.
