The main draw of “YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2017” started today (22 November). In addition to the enthusiastic athletes, a group of passionate students attended the event and cheered for their favorite athletes.

To enhance youth interest in badminton sports, HKBA distributed about 600 free tickets to students from local primary and secondary schools at the Hong Kong Coliseum to watch the world’s best level of badminton for free. F.4 student Chai Wing Nam of New Asia Middle School said, ‘I hope I can take a picture with my idol Lin Dan. I came last year and took a picture with the Danish player Jørgensen. Their teacher Mr. Kwok said, ‘We would like to let students to feel the atmosphere of a world class sports event and meet their idols in person.’

There were also some primary school students. P.6 Student Au Wai Him of S.k.h. Ka Fuk Wing Chun Primary School said, ‘I want to meet Ng Ka Long and support Hong Kong. I saw him played in the Olympics. I like his never give up attitude.’ Liu Him On of Kwong Ming School is one of the school badminton team member. He thought the atmosphere was really awesome and the crowd made the match more exciting.’ All the students wished they can come to see the game again.
