Ng Ka Long Beat Hu Yun Enter Men’s Singles Final of Hong Kong Open

The semi-finals of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2016 commence. Ng Ka Long beat his teammate Hu Yun by 2:0 and entered the finals of Men’s Singles this afternoon. After secured 4 medals yesterday, Hong Kong made another history.
Ng Ka Long gets his fame after beating Lin Dan last year. This year he has become an experienced player in the team. Facing Hu Yun, an even more experienced player, Ng was not frightened. In the first game, there was a lot of rally between them. Hu Yun took a 17:14 lead at the later stage and was leading 19: 17. Ng took 4 points in row and clinched the first game. After losing the first game, Hu is losing his strength. Ng took the lead and win by 21:7.
The match finished in 30 minutes, Hu Yun said he could not recover from yesterday’s match. ‘Last night the match finished at 12am, by the time I went to bed it’s already 2am. I am older than Ng over 10 years. It’s harder for me to recover in such a short time.’ Ng said, ‘The first game is hard, I was lucky at the later part of it. In the second game, I am surprised that I can win in a big point difference. I want to win in the final tomorrow. I want everybody to remember me.’
Hu Yun stopped at top 4 but he was satisfied with his performance. ‘I am 35 years old and still can gets to top 4, I also beat some players who are younger than me. Now in Hong Kong team, we have 4 to 5 strong players in men’s singles. It proves that after so many years I worked for Hong Kong team, their men’s singles’ level finally improved.
Another important match in the afternoon, world NO.1 Carolina Marin lost to Tai Tzu Ying 1: 2 (17:21, 21:14, 16:21). Tai was the Women’s Singles’ champion in 2014.
The finals of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2016 will start at 1:30pm with prize ceremony to be held after the math.
