The main rounds of YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2016 starts today. Students from 30 secondary and primary schools are invited to the Championships. Some of them have never enjoyed watching badminton games live at the Coliseum and were very excited about the lively atmosphere.

To promote badminton to secondary and primary schools students, Hong Kong Badminton Association has arranged guided tour and invited 30 secondary and primary schools’ students to the Hong Kong Coliseum, including some school badminton team’s members. They are all excited about the experience.

Wan Mei Li of S.K.H. Saint Timothy’s Primary School said, ‘This is my first time to watch an international level badminton competition at the stadium. The experience is so different to watching it on the TV. You can feels the atmosphere here.’ Her teammate Wai Man Kwan, a primary 6 student said, ‘Although my idol Lin Din didn’t come to Hong Kong but I am not disappointed. I still can cheer for the Hong Kong Team.’

Besides primary schools, badminton team of Sha Tin Methodist College has also joined the guided tour. Man, a player of the school team said, ‘It’s a great opportunity to learn different tactics from the players. You can hear the sound of a racquet hitting the shuttle. It’s so different and you cannot feel it on TV.’ Their Physical Education teacher Ms. Lam hope students can observe the tactics and learn sportsmanship from the top players.
