Tang/Tse Enter Mixed Doubles Top 4 Tied Hong Kong Team’s Best Record in Hong Kong Open

Tang Chun Man/ Tse Ying Suet beat the English couple Chris Adcock/ Gabrielle Adcock and reach top 4 of Mixed Doubles in YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2016. They have tied the best record of Hong Kong team in Mixed Doubles of the event.

Tang/Tse eliminated top seed Ko Sung Hyun/ Kim Ha Na of Korea and stopped Wang Chi-Lin/ Lee Chia Hsin of Chinese Taipei in the first and second round. This lefty pair is invincible. They take the first game by 21: 19 and in the second they open up with a 5: 0 lead. Even though Adcock, the 2013 champion retain their lead to 19 : 18. Tang/ Tse stay calm and clinch the victory by 22: 20 under the support of local fans. They are all cheering ‘Go! Hong Kong! Go!’.

Tang/Tse has tied Lee Chung Hei/ Chau Hoi Wah’s top 4 record in Hong Kong Open 2013. Tse is overjoyed with tears. ‘We didn’t expect to win. They are very strong players. Especially Chris has a strong left hand which is towards our backhand. We can only try hard to return the shuttle back to his backhand.’ She said. After beating all the popular pairs, Tang/Tse were not carried away by victory. They said, ‘ We trained for 6 months only. We beat them because they were not familiar with our tactic. It doesn’t mean that we are very strong. For tomorrow’s semi-finals, we can only fight for every points and try our best.’

In the afternoon, Hong Kong team has also participated in Men’s Doubles. Lee Chun Hei/ Law Cheuk Him lost to Chai Biao/Hong Wei by 17:21, 13:21 and stopped at top 8. World Women Singles No.1 Carolina Marin reaches top 4 by beating Japanese Akane Yamaguchi 21:7, 21:18.
