World Top 10 Players Including Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei Will Gather in Hong Kong Coliseum in November! Tickets will be on Sale Tomorrow (30th October)!
World top 10 players, including Chinese players Lin Dan and Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei after their absence of last year’s competition, will participate in YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2015 next month. Hong Kong badminton fans can once again enjoy fierce games between the two famous players in this annual world class event. Tickets will be on sale at URBTIX outlets and website from tomorrow (30th October, 2015), price from HK$40 to HK$680 with 10% discount for students and senior citizens!
During the Press Conference today, Mr. Tong Wai Lun, MH, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Badminton Association introduced the star-studded line-up of this year’s competition, including Chinese players Lin Dan, Chen Long, Fu Hai Feng, Zhang Nan, Zhao Yun Lei; Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei, Koo Kien Keat, Tan Boon Heong; Korea’s Lee Yong Dae, Yoo Yeon Seong, Sung Ji Hyun; Jan O Jorgensen, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark; Japan’s Kento Momota, Kenichi Hayakawa, Hiroyuki Endo; and Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen, Tai Tzu Ying, etc.
Mr. Tong believes the competition will be very exciting with all the world class players’ participation. He said, ‘Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei haven’t played against each other for a long time. Now they are allocated on the upper section of the Men’s Singles Main Draw. They might come across each other at the semi-finals. Besides the 2 two famous players, there are also other talented players, such as K.Srikanth of India and Viktor Axelsen of Denmark that we shouldn’t miss.’ Next year is the Rio Olympic Games. Mr. Tong said Hong Kong Badminton Association would like to take this opportunity to promote the sport. He wishes more fans will come and support our Hong Kong Team in next month’s competition.

The event is growing and improving each year. We look forward to watching some of the best shuttlers in the world battle next month.’
Hong Kong Team will send their strongest squad to the competition. Players including: Hu Yun, Wei Nan, Wong Wing Ki, Ng Ka Long in Men’s Singles; Poon Lok Yan, Tse Ying Suet in Women’s Doubles; Lee Chun Hei and Chau Hoi Wah in Mixed Doubles.
Yip Pui Yin, Hong Kong Women’s Singles player, will face Saina Nehwal of India, second seed of the Women’s Singles in the first round. After returning home from competitions in Europe, Yip has a big change in her mind set and attitude. She said, ‘In the past, I was always impatient during a match and set target to win a game or to achieve a designated result. Now I am changed. I just want to try my best in every point and this makes me forget all the pressure and be more patient.’ She wasn’t disappointed about the draw result. She said,’ I haven’t play against Saina for a couple years. I will watch her previous games video and prepare for the match. ‘
YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2015 will start on 17th November for the qualifying round of all 5 events. Top 4 players of the qualifying round will be promoted to the main draw starting from 18th November. To provide more competition news and information, a new event website www.hkopenbadminton.org will be launched with daily updates, results and interviews for local and overseas badminton fans.
Tickets will be on sale at URBTIX outlets and website (www.urbtix.hk) from tomorrow (30th October, 2015). Free admission with ticket for qualifying rounds on 17th November. To get qualifying rounds tickets, fans should send a stamped envelope to Hong Kong Badminton Association and each applicant will get 4 tickets and in a first come first serve basis.
