As YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Badminton Championships 2018 is reaching its climax, lots of parents bring their kids to the Hong Kong Coliseum today (November 17) to enjoy the exciting matchups as the perfect Saturday parent-child activity. Among them are local fans who support each and everyone of the Hong Kong Team players, and had been following the tournament for the fourth consecutive day, while Indonesian fans also flew in to support their compatriots.

This year is the third straight tournament in Hong Kong for Mrs. Lee and her daughter, and they had watched almost every game this tournament. The daughter has been impressed by local favorite Lee Cheuk Yiu’s performance throughout the tournament, and wish he can take home the crown, “He did survive a hard-fought battle in the previous round, I hope Lee Cheuk Yiu can win in tonight’s semi-final.”

While Mr. Yip and his daughter are first time audience, Ms. Yip points out the atmosphere inside the arena had been amazing, and she rated the match between world champion Tai Tzu Ying and Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi as the most impressive match thus far, for both players performed well. With Ms. Lee and Ms. Yip both badminton players themselves, they hope to improve their footwork and smashing skills by watching the world class players compete.

The Hong Kong Badminton Championship do not attract only local audience too, with fans flying in from all over the world. For Indonesian fan Komaria, this is her first experience watching a game in Hong Kong. Having enjoyed the matchup between Son Wan Ho and Kento Momota this afternoon, Komaria is impressed most by the atmosphere. She pointed out that despite Kento Momota being an extremely competitive player, Son is the deserved winner thanks to his overall performance. When it comes to her favorite players though, Komaria did not hesitate in naming the Men’s Double world champions pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, “Indonesian doubles are the best in the world, I surely hope they can defend their title in Hong Kong.”
